This is the question you may or may not have been asking yourself since the beginning of the year.

I could go into some spiel about how busy I am with kids, cleaning, cooking, etc, but you’d see through that, right? Well, I have been busy with all of those things, but I have had a pull in a different sort of direction that I wasn’t expecting.

*Deep Breath*

I’m going back to school…

….eeeeek!!

Never in a million years did I ever think I’d return to school. I mean, come on, I put myself through 4.5 years of college and then took another 7 years to pay off all the debt. I am a stay-at-home mom who is about to be a stay-at-home mom with all the kids in school.

….eeeeek!!! (That was an excited eek.)

How did this happen?

Well, for the last year I have been questioning what I wanted to do in my life. I have always known I was called to help and mentor people, but I couldn’t figure out how. I thought is was through finances since I really like helping people figure out ways to become debt free. However, the first Sunday of this year, I was listening to my pastor talk about what “More” is God asking of you. I felt a prompt that I am supposed to be helping others in the area of marriage. My husband and I have already been mentoring young couples for the last 5 years and this last year we were asked to help out with our church’s pre-marital classes. We also partnered with a friend who began a marriage film ministry called Pressure Points.

I told my husband that I felt called to pursue this ministry and said to him, “I don’t know how people are going to find me credible. I have a healthy marriage, but that’s it. I don’t have an advanced degree in anything.” About two weeks later, our church announced that it was partnering up with Indiana Wesleyan University to offer a Master of Arts in Ministry Leadership.

You could have knocked me over!

I just looked up to the heavens and said, “Okay, Lord, I don’t know where this is all leading, but I’ll apply.” Needless to say, I was accepted and I start the two year program in June.

…eeeeek!

In the meantime, I began another blog (I mean brand-spanking new) that focuses on marriage. It is called Marriage Bound. The idea is that you are either “Bound” in marriage or you are “Bound” towards marriage. Either way it is a resource blog for couples. I am collecting an awesome group of writers to share their married life experience (the good, bad and ugly).

Marriage Bound

My Debt Free Road isn’t going anywhere.

I may not be posting as much, but I have had some talented guest posters in the last few weeks. And besides, finances is a BIG part of marriage. Most of the time it is a major hurdle in a marriage. If you don’t see me around, don’t worry, I’m probably busy with kids, cleaning, cooking, AND working on my Masters. Wish me luck!
