Goodbye Nissan…thanks for being there. |
Back in May, I wrote a post about selling a car to pay off debt. Many young couples in our Financial Peace University small group had done such a thing. Back then, I searched not really hard high and low for a replacement vehicle for our family of five. Then we decided that if we just focus on paying the debt, it will be ours in no time.
Recently, my hubby got a new field-based position where one of the necessities for his job is a company car {insert Hallelujah Chorus}. I was overjoyed!! We will no longer have to pay for gas, insurance, or maintenance on a second vehicle. Woo Hoo!!! My husband took hours was quick to detail his car and listed it on several car listing sites. Within 6 hours of listing it on Autotrader.com, he got a phone call {at 9:30PM last night} and the young man bought it! The buyer got a great deal and we got exactly what we were hoping to get from the sale. Complete win-win for both parties. Now we have cash-in-hand {or rather the bank} to pay down the debt on the minivan. It will be paid off by January! We are on a roll!! It feels good to see debt disappear.
Good job! Such an incredible feeling when you can get closer to knocking one down. We are close on our car, too. Sometime in February for us. Once we get that one done, our snowball really starts rolling.
Yay for no more car payments in 2011! We figured once that car payment is out of the way, we can take that chunk of money {because car payments are never small} and quickly get the last credit card paid off.
