I am taking Chalene Johnson’s Virtual Business Academy and she highly recommends outsourcing. Outsourcing is when you pay someone else to do something you would normally do. For example, we have someone cut our lawn twice a month. We outsourced that job because my husband was traveling so much that his time with the family was too precious on the weekends to spend on yard work. Getting a babysitter so you can go on a date with hubby can be considered outsourcing because you are paying someone to take care of your children.
I have no problems with outsourcing…I just have a problem with money.
Meaning, I don’t have a lot of it! What new business does?
However, I am finding that as I help build my husband’s brand, I do not have a lot of time to clean the house, do the laundry, or even grocery shop. My stress level is increasing because my house is a mess, the laundry is overflowing, and these kids are eating all the food! Ahhhh…. I want to focus on launching his product (I’m the web designer…shocking, I know), but I’m beating myself up for letting things fall to the wayside, including exercising. (FYI this is the 2nd day I have put on workout clothes with the intent of going to the gym, but didn’t get there).
You know what I am going to do? Outsource.
Last week we had a tedious job that neither my husband or I wanted to do, but needed to do for one of the product guides he is putting together. I ended up calling a writer-friend who does odd jobs and hired her for the hour it would take to get the information we needed.
Today, I contacted another friend who used to have a housekeeper-type person and asked if she knew of anyone who could help me out temporarily. I realized that to be more productive, I need someone else focusing on the everyday tasks that are driving me batty. The jobs I am outsourcing are temporary so if I do not click with the people I hire, I can let them go without guilt.
Phew…I can feel the stress leaving me already…
Tomorrow, I make some phone calls to find someone to get my house in order…wish me luck!
