How I Get Organized for the Holidays (Without Losing My Mind)

For years, the holiday season was a mix of joy and chaos. I loved hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas, but every year, I found myself scrambling—trying to remember what dishes I made last year or digging through my kitchen drawer for worn-out recipe slips. It felt like I was reinventing the wheel each holiday, and honestly, the stress started to overshadow the fun.

That’s when I decided enough was enough. I needed a system, something simple and effective to keep me organized and sane during the busiest time of year. So, I created my own set of holiday-themed printouts, and let me tell you—they’ve been a lifesaver.

My Holiday Planning Binder

The idea was simple: create printouts for everything I needed to keep track of during the holidays. I made:

  • Menu Lists for Thanksgiving and Christmas
  • Grocery Lists to make shopping trips efficient
  • Family Favorite Recipes neatly typed and easy to reference

Once printed, I slipped them into plastic covers and organized them in a 3-ring binder. This binder became my one-stop holiday planning solution, and the difference it made was incredible. Now, I can flip through my menus, check off grocery items, and follow my favorite recipes without any hassle.

    Why It Works

What I love most about this system is how flexible and reusable it is:

    • Stress-Free Planning: No more scrambling to remember last year’s menu or searching for recipes. Everything I need is right there.
    • Reusable and Mess-Proof: If a page gets messy, I just reprint it. The plastic covers keep everything protected, and the binder stays neat and organized.
    • Family Legacy: One of my favorite parts is knowing that I can pass this binder down to my kids when they start hosting their own holiday dinners. It’s a way to share our family traditions and make their lives a little easier.

    Sharing My System with You

After realizing how much this system helped me, I wanted to share it. I’ve uploaded blank, printable templates to my Etsy shop so you can create your own holiday binder. I also included some of my favorite family recipes, like Christmas Brisket, Monkey Bread, and our Turkey Brine, in case you need some cooking inspiration.

These printouts are perfect if you:

    • Want to simplify your holiday meal planning
    • Need a place to organize your family’s go-to recipes
    • Love the idea of creating a holiday binder that you can use year after year
    • Want to start a tradition that you can pass down

You can find these printouts on ETSY.

Make the Holidays Special (and Stress-Free)

Since I started using my holiday binder, the holidays have felt less like a race against time and more like the joyful, family-centered celebrations they’re meant to be. Having a clear, organized plan has allowed me to focus on what truly matters—spending time with my loved ones and enjoying the season.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by holiday planning, give this system a try. Whether you use my printouts or create your own, having everything organized in one place can make all the difference.
