Today is the last day of school! I don’t know why I get so excited to have the kids home, but I do. I think it has something to do with no schedules! During the year we are so busy with homework, school activities, extra-curricular activities and all the carpooling. It’s nice to know that for 10 weeks I don’t have to have them anywhere but the pool!
Tomorrow we wake the kids up early, pack them in the van and drive south until we hit the beach! During that time we expect to run into some famous characters like Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Lightning McQueen and Mickey! {Can you tell it’s a boys theme around these parts?!?} My 3 year-old has no idea what is really happening, but I can’t wait to see his eyes light up when we get there!
There has been a lot of planning for this Disney trip. I started out at MouseSavers.com and found tons of great tips for saving money and places to get discounts. I also signed up for their free newsletter which contains a code for an exclusive MouseSaver discount on tickets through Undercover Tourist. We are also using the Undercover Tourist app (iPhone/iPad/Android) to check on crowd levels and ride wait times. I have already gone through the app and added our tickets (for lost ticket recovery), starred the most affordable restaurants, and added events to our schedule. It’s a pretty amazing app, but I’ll let you know how it is in action!
Last time we went to Disney {or the first time we ever took the kids}, I was 6 mos preggo. Although I loooooved seeing the joy on my kids’ faces, I couldn’t ride a lot of the rides. This time I’m going to ride them all! I discovered that Disney does something called Child Swap. This is where the family can stand in line and if the littlest one is too short for the ride, one parent can go one while the other waits. Once that parent is done with the ride, the other one can go on while the first one waits with shorty. No extra waiting!
We almost did not do this trip until my Blogging Buddy Christie went with her two {4 and under} and posted the wonder of it all! She was the one who told me about the Child Swap and how easy they made it for families with short kids little ones. Thanks, C!
Well, I better go pack or no one is going anywhere. While I am gone, I have some guest financial bloggers scheduled to impart their financial wisdom. Hope you enjoy!
