April has begun and so has the spring cleaning! {sort of} It’s Spring Break in these parts and I have spent Monday and Tuesday shuttling kids to dentists, ortho, and haircuts. I also got a new set of appliances in my own mouth…ouch! In between the time in teeth-doctor’s offices, I have had a chance to do some quick re-orgs around the house. So before I go ahead and show you my “problem” areas, I’m going to show you what has been organized.
Dish Cabinet
It’s still a bit cluttered, but I got rid of a LOT of sippy cups. I had a ton in there with no lids. Why I was keeping them, I don’t know. It looks a little better now.
Entryway
This space still looks messy to me, but what you don’t see is all of the winter coats! I took them all down and got them into the laundry room. All these school bags were moved from the hallway bench to this bench where they belong. I did check to make sure the kids didn’t have any leftover lunches that would be hanging out for a week…ewww…
Can you count how many lunchboxes in the picture? Those all belong to my teen. The boys {who each have only one} have theirs in their backpack.
Here is the moment of truth…the areas I need to organize and clean up. I’ve been avoiding these projects because I have cleaned these spaces before, but they always get trashed.
Dining Room Table
It is the catchall for paper work, mail, and anything that is left on the kitchen counter. If you look near the window, you will see a science project in process. Not only is it a mess, but it smells like vinegar at times. Can’t wait for the science project to be complete!
Junk Drawer
I clean this sucker out monthly. No matter how I try to organize it, little hands like to mess it up. I really am at a loss at how to keep this orderly. Suggestions welcome!
Junk Cabinet
It’s bad enough to have a messy junk drawer, but it has happened in our cabinet as well! This is where we keep medicines, first aid, crafts and coffee mugs. I really need to find some other way to organize the meds. We can never find what we need when we need it.
Hall Closet
Our hall closet was organized…last year. We could even fit our vacuum in there! However, it tends to be the place where the kids toss things when we are doing a quick clean. I’m thinking of tossing a few of the games on the floor that we never play.
There you have it. Some of the little places that need some help. What I haven’t shown you {and am pretty frightened to show you} is our basement. It has toys scattered everywhere! There is no organization whatsoever! The different size toys really put me at a loss. I really need to toss some toys or store them and rotate them out. Sometimes I wish I could afford to hire someone to organize everything for me. It would be so much easier.
What are the difficult areas for you to keep organized?
Ok, now we’re even…equal parts mess and desire to rid ourselves of it with pictures to prove it. Sigh…now where are we with the motivation?

Motivation is minimal! I really need to get boxes and just do it!
We took the kids to the zoo today instead of getting anything constructive done. *Sigh*
